and enabling more pathways to join by taking them to a music class.
But don't take our word for it, read what a recent newspaper report had to say :
| "Toddlers given regular piano lessons may have a head start in developing the reasoning used in maths and science, according to a neurological experiment in California.
Three and four year-olds who learnt Twinkle, twinkle, little star and other simple tunes
over six months performed 34 percent better in IQ tests thean those who had computer lessons or no lessons, scientists from the university of Wisconsin found. "

You should research the music class that you would enjoy, because your baby will enjoy it more if you do too !
If you are sending your baby with a nanny, you should make sure your nanny enjoys the ambience of the class so the she/he feels able to join in and have fun. The element of fun throught music will then be appreciated by our baby.
Why the movements ?
Dalcroze researched a whole programme of learning music throught movement in the 1920s. We have read and digested his research and believe
that rhythm is not learned through banging a drum, but through whole body movements - swaying, rocking and nodding.
It is also learned through clapping and learning when claps come in a piece of music. Please join in all the movements to encourage your child.
My toddler just wants to walk !
In a mixed age group class it is fine for a toddler to ramble within the circle of mothers and nannies. N.B. It is your responsibility to keep your child safe and not
touching our valuable instruments !! The child is still learning and hearing the music, even whilst busy practising their new walking skills.
It's all a muddle !
It does seem a muddle of tunes at first, but if you join in and attempt to sing along you will soon learn the tunes. They are very simple, but it does take time.
The first baby music group I took my son George to, I was amazed at how many songs I jad forgotten about and how many
I had never heard before. We have recordings, so that if you can bear to have me in your car you will soon know all our songs !
I am so tired !
If you are really tired, sit back, relax and enjoy the class. If I can entertain your baby and give you some time off, that is a great way to approach the class.
Sibblings
A sibbling not participating need not pay for the classes but once they are fully participating please vounteer to pay for them if you are in a position to do so. We musicians
exist and bring our own families on very low incomes and need your support.
Twins
I cannot afford to give reductions to twins but you may pay for one twin at each end of the term, one at the start and
one at the end.
Many thanks for your support - enjoy !!
